What changed

  • The Local Authorities Election Act's requirements for campaign disclosure statements by municipal candidates are revised, including filing deadlines and the specific information to be disclosed. (Section 9(2) of Bill 54, repealing and substituting Local Authorities Election Act s. 147.4)
  • Third-party election advertising returns for municipal elections are also revised, including filing deadlines and the information required to be disclosed. (Section 9(5) of Bill 54, amending Local Authorities Election Act s. 182)
  • Municipal councils are prohibited from passing bylaws or resolutions respecting election signs or advertisements (as per Election Act s. 206.5, added by Section 6(62) of Bill 54).
